Airport Mesa

Here you should fully use the law of attraction.

Picture an open parking spot.

Most people stay at Airport Mesa only an hour or so; even if they do a trail, they return in two or three hours.

Although people come and go, there are only about ten parking spaces, which is nowhere near enough.

Sunrise and sunset are great, night is great, daytime is great—it’s busy all the time.

Because I was conscious of that, I got a spot on my second try.

If it’s full, go into town and enjoy a Starbucks and a muffin at SAFEWAY (supermarket).

You can also park in the paid lot at the airport-view point if you drive past Airport Mesa on the left; there are view points there.

That works too, though it’s a fair walk and remember you’ll be climbing on the way back.

Finally, we arrived at Airport Mesa.

Sedona has many mountains and viewpoints; the views don’t change dramatically—just different angles.

But this place is different.

Just being here, being alive, fills you with a wonderful sense of awe.

You can feel the Earth’s breath.

If you go to the edge of a large rock, you might feel a bit of fear (acrophobia).

Meditate here accompanied by the sound of propeller engines (part of the Airport Mesa ambience).

People often treat themselves to cake as a reward.

This place, though, really feels like a place to give yourself a true reward.

You can report an achievement here,

seek a new encounter,

or simply be—with no expectations, and that’s fine.

This is Sedona!

Once you’ve been, you can always return there in your mind from anywhere.
